Step By Step on How To Apply Fake Nails
Step 1: Prepare Your Natural Nails
Start with clean, dry nails. Remove any existing nail polish using nail polish remover. For a quick and easy way to do this use the Nail HQ Acetone Free Nail Polish Remover Sponge. Just simply dip your finger into the sponge, twist and remove.
Next, use the Nail HQ Cuticle Pusher to gently push back your cuticles. This step helps create a smooth surface for the fake nails to adhere to.
Step 2: Choose the Right Size Nails
Select fake nails that match the size and shape of your natural nails. You can do this by holding the fake nails up to your natural nails to find the best fit. If necessary, trim the fake nails to your desired length using nail clippers or scissors. You can find all the right tools for these 2 first steps using the Nail HQ Professional Manicure Set.
Step 3: Shape and File the Fake Nails
Use a nail file to shape the fake nails to your preferred shape. Common shapes include square, oval, almond, and stiletto. You can do this by using the Nail HQ Manicure Files. Gently file the surface of the fake nails to roughen them slightly. This will help the glue adhere better.
Step 4: Apply Nail Glue & Press On the Fake nails
Apply a thin, even layer of nail glue to the back of the fake nail. Align the fake nail with your natural nail’s cuticle, making sure it’s centred. Press the fake nail down onto your natural nail, holding it firmly for a few seconds to allow the glue or adhesive to bond. Repeat this process for all of your nails.
Step 5: Trim and Shape
If needed, use a nail file to further shape and smooth the edges of the fake nails to your liking.
Step 6: Buff and Polish (Optional)
Use a nail buffer to gently smooth out any rough edges or uneven surfaces on the fake nails. Apply your favourite nail polish or nail art if desired. Make sure to allow it to dry completely.
Step 8: Finishing Touches
Clean up any excess glue around the edges of your nails with a cotton swab dipped in nail polish remover. Apply a clear topcoat to seal in your nail art and add shine (optional).
With some practice, you can achieve salon-quality results at home with fake nails. Remember that the key to success is patience and attention to detail.
Removing adhesive nails is simple and can be done without damaging your nails. Start off by trimming any excess length from the fake nails by using clippers or scissors, being cautious not to cut too close to your natural nail bed. Then soak your hands in warm, soapy water for approximately 10 minutes. This warm water bath will help soften the nail glue, this will allow you to easily peel off the nails. Finish by using a cuticle pusher to remove any remaining residue.
Finish with the Nail HQ Nourishing Hand & Nail Cream which will help revitalise damaged cuticles.
