5 Easy Tips to Make Your Natural False Lashes Look Real

False lashes can elevate your look, but getting them to blend seamlessly with your natural lashes can be tricky. The secret? Opt for natural false lashes and follow these easy tips to make them look as realistic as possible. Whether you’re new to using natural looking false eyelashes or you’re wanting to learn more, these techniques will help you achieve a flawless finish.

What Makes A False Lash Look The Most Natural?

To achieve the most natural look with false lashes, it’s important to consider a few key factors. Opt for lashes with a length and volume that mimic your natural lashes, avoiding overly dramatic styles and instead choosing ones labeled as “natural” or “everyday.” Lashes with a thin or clear band blend better into the lash line, making them a good choice for a realistic “your lashes but better effect”. If you’re still buying mink lashes, then stop right now! Not only are they bad for animals, but you can actually get much better looking lashes that are synthetic, and don’t harm animals.

Tip: Synthetic lashes can sometimes look fake due to their shiny and plastic appearance. However, if you lightly buff them using a clean spoolie, this will remove the shininess, will fluff them up, and they will appear more natural. Try it with every new lash you get!

How to Make False Eyelashes Look Realistic with these 5 Easy Tips

Even with the best application, a few finishing touches can make all the difference. Here are 5 top tips to elevate the natural look:

  1. Secure Them Together: Press your false lashes and natural lashes together gently to blend and secure them seamlessly. This will “cement” them together and make the band less visible.
  2. Tightline Your Eyes: Use a black or dark brown eyeliner pencil to tightline your upper waterline. This fills in any gaps between your natural lashes and the false ones.
  3. Avoid Overuse of Mascara: While a light coat helps blend the lashes, too much mascara can make them clumpy and unnatural.
  4. Hide the Lash Band: After applying your natural false lashes, use eyeliner to conceal the band. A thin line of liquid liner works wonders.
  5. Fluff and Separate: Use a clean spoolie to gently comb through the lashes and remove any excess glue or mascara.

Individual vs. Strip Lashes: Which Looks More Real?

When it comes to achieving the most realistic lash look, both individual and strip lashes have their strengths. Individual lashes allow for precise placement, making them ideal for filling gaps or enhancing specific areas of your lash line. They create a natural, customised effect but can be time-consuming to apply.

On the other hand, strip lashes are quick and easy, providing a uniform look across your entire lash line. For a natural finish, opt for lightweight strip lashes with clear bands and wispy designs. Ultimately, individual lashes often look more real due to their customisable nature, but strip lashes can also appear natural with the right style and application techniques.

How To Apply Natural False Lashes

Step 1: Measure and Trim

Hold the fake eyelashes against your lash line to determine if they are the right length. If they’re too long, carefully trim the outer edge to fit your eye shape.

Step 2: Prep the Lash

Sometimes lashes can flatten when you take them out of the box and then they run the risk of lifting on the inner and outer corners. To avoid this, carefully hold either end of the fake eyelash and roll it in a “U” shape. This will help keep the curve of the lash, making it fit along your eye better!

Step 3: Apply Lash Adhesive

Grab your tweezers and gently pick up your fake eyelashes. Apply a thin layer of lash glue along the lash band and wait for up to 30 seconds for the glue to get tacky. This step is crucial to prevent the lashes from sliding around during application.

Alternatively, if you are using an adhesive eyeliner pen, apply a coat evenly along the lash line as close as possible. Make sure to wait 20-30 seconds as well to give the glue enough time to get tacky.

Step 4: Apply the Fake Lashes

Using a mirror and your tweezers, position the lash as close to your natural lash line as possible. Start by attaching the centre of the lash band, then secure the inner and outer corners. Press gently to ensure they stick down well. Once the inner and outer corners are in place, use your tweezers to secure the lash and to blend your natural lashes with your falsies.

Step 5: Final Touches

If desired, you can use an eyelash curler to blend your real lashes and your false lashes. Be very gentle to avoid damaging the lashes. You can also apply a thin line of eyeliner to conceal the lash band and create a seamless look. Finish the look with mascara on your lower lashes if desired.
